Burn Aid Foundation Delivers Record-Breaking $82,500 Gift to Regions Hospital Burn Center

Nov 5, 2024

In a celebration of community and healing, the Burn Aid Foundation presented an $82,500 donation to the Regions Hospital Burn Center this November. The funds, raised during the 2024 Golf Outing, will directly support survivor camps and advanced medical technology.

ST. PAUL, MN – November 1, 2024 — The hallway outside the Regions Hospital Burn Center is usually a place of quiet focus, but earlier this month, it was filled with smiles, applause, and a profound sense of shared purpose.

In a special presentation ceremony, representatives from the Burn Aid Foundation gathered with the medical staff of the Regions Hospital Burn Center to unveil the results of their 2024 fundraising efforts. The group proudly displayed a ceremonial check in the amount of $82,500—a testament to the unwavering generosity of the foundation’s sponsors and the local community.

"This check represents more than just a dollar amount," said Sean Flaherty, President of the Burn Aid Foundation. "It represents the collective heart of our industry. It’s a message to every patient behind these doors that they are not fighting alone."

A Legacy of Support

The funds were raised during the Foundation’s annual Burn Aid Golf Classic, an event that has grown from a casual outing among colleagues in 1997 into one of the premier charity events in the Minnesota fire safety industry. Operating as a 100% volunteer organization, the Foundation ensures that the proceeds go directly where they are needed most.

Fueling Hope and Healing

The $82,500 donation will be immediately put to work supporting the Burn Center’s "Continuum of Care," funding programs that insurance often does not cover. Specifically, this year's gift will help fund:

  • Camp RED (Realize Every Dream): Sending families to the Minnesota Family Burn Camp in Ely, MN, where survivors can heal together in the peace of the North Woods.

  • Cheley Children's Hospital Burn Camp: Providing scholarships for young survivors to attend adventure therapy camps in the Colorado Rockies.

  • Advanced Medical Technology: aiding in the purchase of specialized equipment like laser scar therapy tools and the center's world-renowned transparent facial orthosis masks.

Representatives for the Burn Center staff, accepted the donation on behalf of the hospital. "The partnership we have with the Burn Aid Foundation is unique," they noted. "Their support allows us to treat the whole patient—not just the physical injury, but the emotional recovery that follows."

As the group posed for photos in front of "The Burn Center" sign, the mood was one of accomplishment and anticipation for what can be achieved in 2025.
